Announcement of designation of National repository on website

BNHS is pleased to announce that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India has designated the Bombay Natural History Society as the repository for marine, freshwater and terrestrial fauna under the Biodiversity Act, 2002.

The general mandate of the Designated Repository (DR) is the safe deposit of holotypes/isotypes/ paratypes of new taxa discovered in India and samples of biological resources accessed by foreign citizens/entities for research or sent/carried abroad by Indian citizens/institutions for research.
