Herp Night Trail at Matheran

3rd August 2019

In spite of Matheran being an immensely popular tourist destination, it is home to a wide array of flora and fauna. Once the commotion of the day comes to an end, these creatures start their activity, and the forest comes alive with their 'songs'.

Take a rainy night walk with a BNHS expert to come close to some of these beautifully hidden amphibians and reptiles (Herpetofauna) in Matheran. Bombay Bush Frog, Wrinkled Frog, Leith's Leaping Frog, Fungoid Frog, Deccan Banded Gecko, Rock Gecko, Vine Snake, Wolf Snake, Cat Snake, are some of the herps one can observe in Matheran.
