MELGHAT TIGER RESERVE

Melghat Tiger Reserve is nestled between the Satpura mountain ranges and Tapti river valley. This is also where the Reserve gets its name, "Melghat,"meaning "meeting of the Ghats." The tiger reserve covers an area of approximately 4,519 sq km and is renowned for its rich biodiversity and captivating landscapes.

The reserve boasts a diverse range of flora and fauna, including leopards, sloth bears, Indian bison, and several species of deer, besides the tiger. It is also a birdwatcher's haven, the Endangered Forest Owlet, which was thought to be extinct and was only rediscovered in 1997, from the area. With over 300 species of birds, like Black Stork, Indian Paradise Flycatcher, Malabar Pied-Hornbill, Velvet-fronted Nuthatch, Collared Scops-Owl, White-browed Fantail, and all three species of Owlets, Melghat

Camp charges: Rs. 21,575/- BNHS members and Rs. 23,075/- others

Accommodation: Twin sharing basis

Reporting: Pick up from Badnera Railway Station at 8:00 am and drop to Badnera Railway Station. (Please book your return at least after 9:30 pm)

Cost includes: Local transport, transfer to/from Badnera, meals (B/L/D) first-day lunch to last-day breakfast, accommodation, permits, and BNHS expertise

Cost excludes: Flight/rail tickets, all expenses of a personal nature like laundry, tips, beverages, camera fees, and any other expense not specified under ‘cost includes’.
