Flamingo Watch at TS Chanakya
TS Chanakya is known for its mixed habitat trail in Navi Mumbai. This means one can see a variety of birds during the trail. Wetland birds like the Painted Stork, Indian Shag, Slender-billed Gull, Pacific Golden Plover, Northern Shoveler, Lesser Whistling Duck, Eurasian Marsh Harrier, Osprey and if lucky the Lesser and Greater Flamingos can be sighted. In addition, other birds such as Red Avadavat, Indian Silverbill, Scaly-breasted Munia, Grey-breasted Prinia, Bluethroat, Indian Roller, Bay-backed Shrike, Baya Weaver, Black-breasted Weaver, and Grey Francolin can also be spotted here.
Grade: Easy (2–3 km of easy walk)
Reporting: At 3:45 p.m.; at the underpass entrance near the TS Chanakya, Nerul. The programme will conclude by 5:30–5:45 p.m.
Charges: Rs. 700/- for members, Rs. 800/- for others.
Cost includes: Entry ticket/permission charges (if any) and BNHS expertise only.
